Mission Gráfica: The Book
Mission Gráfica has been the premiere community screenprint poster shop in the San Francisco Bay Area since its founding in the early 1980s. Over a ten year period several of the key participants at Mission Gráfica worked together to document this history. The resulting book includes an essay that places Gráfica within the context of the complex story of the Mission neighborhood in San Francisco and its interaction with world events taking place from the late 1970s. Large color reproductions of over 100 posters are divided into five categories that broadly cover the output of this vital community resource. An introduction by US Poet Laureate Juan Felipe Herrera gives a vivid sense of the texture of the early days at Gráfica.
